What’s in The Box
Setup
Each player is given a set of three player cards, with the same design on the back, face-up in front of them.
The 6 middle cards are shuffled and three cards are down and placed facedown in the middle of the table.
The starting player takes their player cards in front of them and turns them facedown, then they can take two of their cards and swap their position. The player can do up to three of these swaps. The player then secretly looks at their cards, and places them back in the same order.
The next player then does the same, and when all player has done this, the Gameplay phase starts
Gameplay
The gameplay is divided into two phases, the Swapping Phase, and the Betting Phase.
Swapping Phase
Each player can now on their turn choose to do one of three things
1.
The player can choose to look at their own cards, the three in front of them, in secret and place them back in the same order
2.
The player can choose to swap ANY two cards on the table, these may include his own, other player’s cards or the middle cards, three examples can be seen here below
3.
They can make a bet on how many cards with the same number, there are in their card pool; a player’s card pool consists of the three cards in front of them and the three cards in the middle. Betting if only allowed after the first three turns. This ends the swapping phase and starts the betting phase.
Betting Phase
When betting, you only bet on the amount of cards with the same number. The number on the cards are irrelevant. Some examples are shown below
During the betting phase, each player can, on their turn, either make a bet higher than the previous or make the previous player show their cards. If the amount of cards in the largest set of cards with the same number on them, in the betters card pool, is equal or higher than the bet, the better gets one point. If they get fewer, they must turn one of their own cards, of their choice, face-up the rest of the game. This card remains face-up even if the card gets swapped to another player.
When a player gets three points, they win the game.
If a player loses the bet, when all of their cards are already face-up, they lose and are out of the game.
After betting, a new round starts. All players get back their original three cards and go to the setup-phase again (Any card that is turned face-up due to losing a round is kept face-up). The player that gained a point or had to turn a card face-up starts the next round.
